TipSync DEFRA PAT Status

What is the Production Approval Test?
Before a software provider can be listed on GOV.UK as compatible with the Report Receipt of Waste API, DEFRA requires them to demonstrate 14 specific scenarios. These scenarios test that the software can correctly record, submit, and handle responses for different types of waste receipts — including basic loads, hazardous waste, POPs waste, carrier details, and broker/dealer movements.
TipSync's architecture supports all 14 PAT scenarios. Once DEFRA provides production credentials, we will run each scenario, record the Waste Tracking IDs, and submit the evidence for review.

What this means for your site
Once TipSync passes the PAT process and is listed on GOV.UK, your site can use TipSync as your official software provider for the Report Receipt of Waste obligation. You will register your site with DEFRA, receive your own API code, and enter it in TipSync to enable live submissions.
Until then, TipSync is fully functional against DEFRA's test environment. Founding sites can set up their workflow, import their data, and be ready to go live the moment production access is confirmed.
Important note on language
DEFRA's API terms of service state that software providers must not advertise themselves as “DEFRA accredited,” “DEFRA endorsed,” “DEFRA certified,” or “DEFRA approved.” TipSync does not use these terms. When listed, we will describe TipSync as “listed on GOV.UK as a compatible software provider for the Report Receipt of Waste API” and “has passed DEFRA's Production Approval Tests.”
Get ready while we get listed
Founding sites can set up their account, import carriers and waste codes, and practise the workflow now. When production access is confirmed, you are ready from day one.
